Challenge # 11
For my 3D project, I have taken a smock dress that I wore as a child, also worn by my children and grandchildren. It was smocked by my mother.
I have quilted some phrases that young girls may hear, when they are trying to be their best selves at the same time as trying to be a “good girl.” They are not all positive phrases and hopefully the little girls of today are not hearing some of the phrases that little girls were hearing 65 years ago…
I added Fosshape to the skirt of the dress, then quilted in the phrases. The fosshape was then heated with a heat gun to stiffen it into the full skirt. The sleeves are stuffed and the body has been filled with a sort of pillow with a sturdy bottom.
