A Tyvek vessel

For this challenge I reached back to a period some ten years ago when I was keen to explore non-fabric materials and use them for 3D objects. I bought an online course by the UK-based Lynda Monk, where I first met many products that could be successfully incorporated into textile work, and also learned what kinds of objects may be created with a combination of these.
In this case, I used a sponge to gently "massage" several layers of Golden fluid acrylics into Tyvek paper so that the texture (i.e. the fine veining) remains visible. The dry coloured sheets were glued to a heavy thick stabiliser (Vlieseline S80), and, using a soldering iron, I cut rectangles with one long side with gentle waves. As this revealed the white of the stabiliser, I painted the edges with a slightly darker shade of brown.
Then I sewed together the rectangles into a large piece. On the two long sides, I punched holes with the soldering iron, through which I weaved narrow strips of silk organza. The original idea was to create a more or less cylinder form, however the stabiliser turned out to be too rigid for this, so the base has a shape of a kind of teardrop. This is also the reason why I did not make the base - so now (as yet?) it is just a tube.
