My piece for the theme windows, portals and doors is based on a photo that I took in Ecuador. I loved the various shades of green on the hills near Otavalo. A partial shutter frames the view. This farm scene can be transposed to any hilly farming district.
Dimensions: 32" height (81.5 cm) by 23.75" wide (60 cm)
Materials used include hand painted and hand dyed fabric, hand dyed cheesecloth. I used both machine and hand stitching.
I have included photos which show the process for painting the shutter fabric. The fields were mostly completed with monoprinting. Some that I used are shown below.
