MONOCHROME: GREEN - Life - by Teresita Leal

Green has always been present in the human world, being one of the most common colors in nature and the one that has accompanied us most in our evolution.

It symbolizes life and vital energy, which I represent in this piece as the beginning of a cycle.



I worked with the same raw edge appliqué technique I’ve used lately.


I selected cotton and silk commercial and hand-dyed fabrics and placed them in a gradient of values that would provide depth and dynamism

The piece grew as I pinned irregular squares and rectangles on the hand-dyed green/grey background fabric

When I was satisfied with the result, it was time to start sewing...
