From Science to Textile Art - Teresita Leal

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I currently live and work. I graduated as a Biochemist, doctor in Physiology, but became an art quilter 20 years ago. During that time, I studied techniques, color and composition in books, online and with outstanding teachers when attending international shows. I have taught workshops and produced my art pieces which have been exhibited in quilt festivals, art salons and museums in America and Europe.

My creative process begins when going through my fabrics, I’m taken by their texture and color. I work with little planning, usually just a general idea of what the finished piece will look like. I’m currently working with a collage technique that enables me to improvise with great freedom.
